“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”
-James 1:17 ESV
In yesterday’s devotion, I focused on the gifts God sends. Today, I’m focusing on where those gifts come from, the Father of heavenly lights. What is it like up there, I wonder…where our Father resides? I wonder if it really is in the clouds, or just some crazy cool place. I wonder, I wonder, I wonder. There are so many questions that I have about God that are unanswered, at least until I go home. But the biggest and most important question I have has already been answered, multiple times. Is God always there? The answer is yes. There is no shadow due to change with God. The other questions we would like to know are unimportant compared to the question of God’s greatness and eternity. No doubt is left in my mind about this question. Why? For one, it’s in the Scripture. Two? Well, I have felt Him move. I feel Him move every day. And that is even more certain to me than my pen moving along this page.
Dear my Father of the heavenly lights,
Thank you so much for who You are. You are so powerful and eternal, I cannot mistake your presence everywhere I go. I praise You for, well, You, forever and ever. I love You and honor You, in Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen.
